KARGIL, JULY 02, 2021: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve chaired a meeting with the concerned officers of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) and public representatives from Andoo to Parkachik to discuss various issues pertaining to the construction of Kargil-Zanskar National Highway NH-301.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Tsering Motup, General Manager NHIDCL Colonel A K Shiv Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Abdul Gaffar Zargar, SDM Sankoo Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, Councilor Pashkum Kacho Muhammad Feroz, Councilor Baroo-Minji Sheikh Ghulam Mehdi, Councilor TSG Block Aga Syed Mujtaba, Councilor Lankarchay Ghulam Haider, Councilor Sankoo Aga Syed Ahmad Razvi, Councilor Parkachik Haji Ghulam Muhammad, BDC Chairperson TSG Block Haji Tahir Hussain, Tehsildars, other concerned officers and Lambardars of different villages were present in the meeting.

During the course of the meeting, the representatives of NHIDCL gave a power point presentation about the ongoing works on the development of the NH-301 from Andoo to Padum that will be 230 kilometers long. It was also informed that the project is divided into 8 packages.

Detailed discussion and deliberations were held on various measures needed to be taken for proper development of the NH-301 by way of widening and re-alignment at different locations.

The Councilors of various constituencies put forth their suggestions and concerns with regard to the re-alignment and widening of road at different locations in their respective areas.  

DC Santosh Sukhadeve assured the Councilors and Lambardars to provide 4 times hiked compensation to the people in affected areas on time.

Responding to the demand of the public representatives to reduce the alignment from 60 feet to 40 feet only, the Deputy Commissioner said that the development of 60 feet wide road will lead to long lasting and durable road that would not need realignment in future for a long time.

DC Santosh Sukhadeve also listened to the issues and grievances of the public representatives, and assured to take necessary and timely action after consultation with the Chairman and CEC, LAHDC, Kargil.

Meanwhile, the GM NHIDCL said that road is a prerequisite for development, and the NH-301 is aimed to provide all weather connectivity to Zanskar valley which is also significant from strategic point of view.
