Review meeting of schemes taken up by Rural Development Department

Leh, May 1: The Director of the Rural Development Department, Syed Sajjad Qadri, Ladakh held a meeting to review the Financial/Physical progress of schemes taken up in the Rural Development Department in the DC Conference Hall on May 01.

The main agenda of the meeting was to review the physical and financial progress under the special development package, review the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) and information on the data layers of the rural development department.

The director stressed that the review meeting holds paramount importance as it serves as a platform to chart out the blueprint for the entire year’s endeavors. During the session, commendation was extended to all employees for their dedicated efforts, notwithstanding some challenges encountered in certain sectors.

Nonetheless, the overall progress was deemed satisfactory.

Particularly noteworthy was the exceptional performance in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), which garnered commendation from the Government of India.

He mentioned that today’s meeting focal points would be the State Sector and Special Development Package (SDP), alongside the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), both of which were highlighted as bearing significant challenges. Emphasis was laid on the indispensable support required from Block Development Officers (BDOs) and Junior Engineers (JEs) to address these issues effectively.

He emphasized the critical importance of timely execution by Junior Engineers (JEs) and Assistant Engineers (AEs), while also underlining the responsibility of Block Development Officers (BDOs) to ensure that physical progress reaches 100%. Additionally, he stressed the necessity for seamless collaboration from all technical departments, given the substantial scope and significance of the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP).

Furthermore, he set a deadline for the completion of work and emphasized the importance of showcasing progress within the stipulated timeframe.

The Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Leh, A. G. Zargar, engaged with all Block Development Officers (BDOs), Assistant Engineers (AEs), and Junior Engineers (JEs), seeking progress reports and probe them about the underlying reasons for any work delays or setbacks. He urged everyone to get their work done on the stipulated deadline and not waste any time.

The meeting was attended by District Panchayat Officer (DPO)Leh Junaid Amin, Assistant Director Planning, Tsetan Angmo and all the BDOs, AEs and JEs.
