Ladakh Literary Conference, 2021 concludes in Kargil

KARGIL APRIL 11, 2021: 2 Days Ladakh Literary Conference, 2021 organized by Ladakh Academy of Culture and Languages (LAACL), Kargil concluded at Conference Hall Baroo here today.

Executive Councillor for Tourism Er Phunsog Tashi was the chief guest on the occasion while those who sat in the presidium along with the chief guest for the morning session included the Deputy Secretary Culture, LAACL, Leh Tsewang Paljor, noted Urdu poet Jigmet Nurboo Khayal Ladakhi, eminent Balti poet and writer Bashir Ahmad Wafa and noted Shina poet Muhammad Asgar Asvi.

3 short stories and 3 research oriented papers
were presented during the morning session while as 12 poets in total presented their poetic compositions in Urdu, Ladakhi, Purgi, Shina and Balti languages during the morning and after lunch sessions.

Speaking on the occasion, EC Phunsog Tashi while hailing the LAACL, Kargil for organizing the UT level literary event expressed optimism that this 2 day conference will prove an ideal platform for the poets, writers and intellectuals of both districts to generate fruitful discussions and deliberations on the challenges and opportunities to the local languages so that future strategies are devised for workable solutions.

While expressing satisfaction on the participation of a good number of younger poets and writers in the conference from both districts, the EC exhorted upon the officers of LAACL to take steps for involvement of youngsters in future programmes so that the new generation is enlightened well about their rich cultural heritage and ancestral ethos. He said that the LAHDC, Kargil is fully committed to support all endeavors for promotion and preservation of art, culture and languages and assured the writers and artists all possible support in this regard.

Earlier, during the welcome speech, Deputy Secretary/ Special Officer for Cultural Activities G-1, LAACL Leh Tsewang Paljor welcomed the dignitaries and guests and said that the main objective of the workshop is to provide a platform to the writers of different ethnic languages of Ladakh to present their fresh literary endeavors in terms of poetry, short story writing and presentation of research oriented papers besides to generate discussions and deliberations for preservation and promotion of the local languages.

The paper reading session comprised of 3 research oriented paper presentations by Muhammad Sadiq Hardassi, Mukhtar Zahid Badgami and Arif Hussain Ladakhi on the topics The History of Bon Philosophy in Ladakh and Baltistan, Different Dialects of Shina Dardic Language and Their Comparative Study and History and Culture of Aryan Valley of Kargil respectively.

Noted writers and poets who sat in the presidium during the after lunch session included Ajaz Hussain Munshi, Gen Nawang Paljor, Muhammad Sadiq Hardassi, Raza Amjad Badgami, Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma.

Tsewang Paljor, Muhammad Abbass Zameer and Muhammad Shabir Misbahi presented their short stories while poets who presented their poetic renderings included Ghulam Ahmad Khan Jawan, Gen Nawang Chinba, Bashir Ahmad Wafa, Urgain Chinba, Akbar Ali Khan Shaheen, Tashi Samphel, Muhammad Asgar Asvi, Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, Muhammad Ali Khumar, Fazil Abbass, Muhammad Yaseen Ansari, Muhammad Ali Ashour, Tsewang Rigzin, Muhammad Taqi Khan Nayaab, Muhammad Raza Saqi, Nissar Hussain Nissar, Fida Hussain Wazir Fida, and Muhammad Hadi Balti.

Later, Deputy Secretary/Special Officer for Cultural Activities G-1, Kargil Nazir Hussain extended gratitude to all the guests, participating poets, writers and artists for having participated in the event.

Noted poets Ashraf Ali Sagar and Muhammad Hussain Fayaz conducted the proceedings of different sessions held on the final day today. 

Writers, poets, district officers, prominent citizens besides a good number of cultural and literary enthusiasts were present on the occasion.
