Book on Kargil’s history releases

KARGIL APRIL 28, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan released Tareekh-e-Kargil, a book chronicling the history of Kargil at Conference Hall Baroo here today.

The book authored by prominent senior citizen Haji Baqir Ali takes a comprehensive look on the history, culture, customs and traditions, political history, geography, personalities and other aspects of Kargil.

Executive Councilor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan, Director Animal and Sheep Husbandry Ladakh Dr Muhammad Raza Abbassi, Councilor Town Haji Muhammad Abbas Adulpa, President Municipal Committee Kargil Zaheer Hussain Babar, eminent Balti poet and writer Akhone Asgar Basharat, district officers, writers and good number of literary persons and book lovers were present on the occasion.

CEC Feroz Ahmad Khan while speaking on the occasion extended heartfelt congratulations to the author of Tareekh-e-Kargil Haji Baqir Ali and said that this day will be an important date in the literary history of Kargil. He said that the importance of this book is such that it connects the contemporary and old history of Kargil and also gives detailed insights about different aspects of Kargil’s social history.

CEC Khan said that the book will prove an asset for those interested in the contemporary history of Kargil and added that research scholars, students and coming generation of Kargil will at large get benefitted from it.

The CEC said that the greatness of the character and humility of Haji Baqir Ali can be gauged from the very fact that he never showed off his knowledge and expertise in any literary forum despite having such depth of knowledge. He extended best wishes to Haji Baqir Ali and also prayed for his good health.

Meanwhile, a brief book review was presented by eminent Balti writer and historian Muhammad Sadiq Hardassi while veteran Balti Poet Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat also spoke about the life and other achievements of the author.

Nephew of the author and Chairman Municipal Committee Kargil, Zaheer Hussain Babar on behalf of Haji Baqir Ali extended gratitude to the dignitaries and participants for gracing the occasion.

Eminent Purgi poet and scholar Nasiruddin Khafee conducted the proceedings while Assistant Director Information and Public Relations, Kargil Muhammad Ali Tak extended the vote of thanks at the end.
