AKSAD Stands in Solidarity with Students and Academics Worldwide for the Palestinian Cause

VoL Desk, April 29: In a press release, the All Kargil (Ladakh) Students’ Association Delhi (AKSAD) has expressed solidarity with students and academics globally who are courageously speaking out against the dire humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza, Palestine.

For more than 200 days, the oppressive actions of the Israeli state have led to a catastrophic situation in Gaza, characterized by ethnic cleansing and the severe oppression of the Palestinian people. This relentless bombardment has left half of Gaza’s population without adequate food, pushing them to the brink of starvation. Disturbing reports indicate that famine is imminent in Northern Gaza, where 70% of the population already suffers from catastrophic hunger.

Education stands as a beacon of moral values and civility, playing a pivotal role in shaping a rational society that transcends barriers of caste, religion, and culture. It is not merely about acquiring knowledge and skills; it instills in us the ability to discern right from wrong and motivates us to take steps toward building a progressive society.

On behalf of all students in Ladakh, we extend our solidarity to those who courageously advocate for the oppressed people of Palestine. The recent arrests and suspensions of students and academics in various universities in the West for speaking out against cruelty and injustice represent a dangerous erosion of freedom of expression and fundamental rights in democratic societies. The inhumane conduct of police forces during these protests is equally deplorable. We urge relevant authorities to uphold the democratic rights of students and academics worldwide.
