DC Leh Took EJM College Issue with Secretary Higher Education

LEH, FEBRUARY 15, 2021: After massive protest by students of Elizer Jolden Memorial College Leh, Deputy Commissioner/ Chief Executive Officer Leh took up the issue with the Secretary Higher Education Department, UT Ladakh in a letter on Monday.

“The students complained that the delay in declaration of results of all the courses of graduation has been a regular phenomenon because of which they have been forced to loss very precious years of their career. Further they also added that they have let their grievances known to all the stakeholders, office bearers and all the public representative time and again but nothing fruitful has come out till date”, read the letter.

“The students, therefore, feel that their genuine grievances are not being taken seriously by the concerned authorities and the public representatives; and therefore, they are being forced to come out on the roads and in the streets to express their grievances”, the latter added.

The letter quoting the students said that the main reason behind incessant delay in declaration of the result is affiliation of the college with the University of Kashmir. The students have renewed the long pending demand to de-affiliate the college from University of Kashmir but nothing has been done in this regard. Unless and until the college is de-affiliated from University of Kashmir the students do not see any permanent solution for delayed examination results, the DC quoted students.

It is also demanded to affiliate the college with the newly formed Ladakh University so that there is no further delay in declaration of results and the students are not forced to loss precious years of their carrier.

The students called off their protest from Leh Gate when the Additional Deputy Commissioner assured that their grievances shall be communicated to all the concerned authorities immediately. However, the students continue peaceful protest within the campus of EJM College.
