SVEEP awareness program held at GDC Drass

Kargil, April 15: The Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program was held at Govt. Degree College Drass which witnessed an overwhelming response from participants. It was aimed to foster voter awareness and active participation in democratic process.

Led by the District Nodal Officer SVEEP in collaboration with the SVEEP committee, the program brought together a diverse range of stakeholders, each contributing to the collective goal of enhancing electoral literacy and engagement.

Principal GDC Drass, Dr Amjad Ali Abassi presented welcome note and shared his invaluable thoughts during a recent event held at the college premises.

The event was attended by students, faculty members and esteemed guests. Dr Abassi’s address was marked by his insightful reflections on various aspects of election, community engagement in greater participation of votes, societal development.

Phunchok Ladakhi, the State Icon for SVEEP in Ladakh and a distinguished personality known for his multifaceted roles as an actor, motivational speaker, and social activist added significance to the occasion, inspiring attendees with his impassioned call for civic responsibility and democratic participation.

Dr Tsewang Morup, State Nodal Officer for SVEEP UT Ladakh, provided valuable insights into the strategic initiatives undertaken to promote voter education and mobilization across the region. His expertise and guidance served as a guiding light for those seeking to make a meaningful impact in electoral processes.

Ghulam Rasool, District Nodal Officer enlightened the first time voters and demonstrated the machinery used during elections using his expertise.

Kacho Ahmad Khan, a renowned actor, shared his perspectives on the fundamental importance of democratic values and the role of every citizen in shaping the future of their communities.

Shabana Parveen, the Campus Ambassador, showcased various SVEEP initiatives implemented within the college premises. She threw light on innovative approaches adopted to engage students and empower them with knowledge and skills necessary for informed decision-making.

Sajad Hussain, Assistant Professor of Environmental Science/Convenor of SVEEP, GDC Drass orchestrated the proceedings with diligence and enthusiasm. His meticulous planning and coordination ensured that the event ran smoothly, enabling meaningful interactions and fruitful discussions among participants. The voter pledge, taken by all, was recited by Zainab Banoo, a SVEEP member from Kargil.
