Potential overflow of Sumdo lake in Sankoo, Admin issues alert notice

Kargil, April 24: Due to the rising daytime temperatures and the subsequent melting of snow in the mountains, the district magistrate has issued a public notice for the safety of residents. The notice emphasizes the potential overflow of Lake Sumdo in Chhiling Nallah, Panikhar, posing risks to the surrounding areas.

Residents of villages including Panikhar, Taisuru, Prantee, Thuluspursa, Kargee, Yuljuk, Namsuru, and Khows are urged to exercise caution and refrain from venturing near the Chiling Nallah and other flood-prone zones.

Furthermore, all officers, officials, and field staff of the Revenue, Irrigation and Flood Control, UT Disaster Response Force, Rural Development, and Medical Departments in the Sankoo Subdivision are instructed to remain vigilant. They are required to closely monitor the situation, maintain readiness with adequate personnel and equipment, and be prepared to respond promptly to any emergencies that may arise.
