“Bhoti” Language Day celebrated at EJM College Leh

Kargil, April 01: The Department of Philosophy Club in collaboration with the Student Council of EJM college celebrated Bhoti Language Day today at the multipurpose hall. The program was presided over by the Principal of EJM College, Professor Samina Iqbal and Director of the Colleges Dr. Tashi Dawa.

The event commenced with a welcome speech by Mr Padma Wangyal, president of the students of EJM College. Dr. Tashi Dorjey Assistant professor of Philosophy addressed the audience on the importance of the Bhoti language and its relation to culture and identity.

He emphasized that the language is the primary identity of a society and everyone must strive to get Bhoti language added in 8th Schedule.

Various activities were held including a handwriting competition, Bhoti language poetry and speech competition on the occasion. Around 50 students participated in the program expressing their views on the significance of preserving and promoting the mother language. During the prize distribution ceremony outstanding students were honored.

Dr. Jigmet Sangyas, Assistant Professor of political science recited poetry and highlight the importance of Bhoti language day. In conclusion director of colleges Dr. Tashi Dawa delivered a speech on the importance of Bhoti day for Ladakh and its future.
