LG inaugurates LRLM Livelihood Centre CLF/VDVK at Shilikchey

Kargil, Dec 12: Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra today inaugurated LRLM Livelihood Centre CLF/VDVK at Shilikchey, Kargil.

The other dignitaries who were present during the inaugural ceremony included Secretary to HLG Ravinder Kumar, DC/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Shrikant Suse, Director RD&PRD, Syed Sajad Qaderi, Superintendent of Police Kargil, Anayat Ali Chowdhary, ACD Kargil, Ghulam Muhammad, and other officers and officials.

During the event, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor assessed the machines at the center. He examined various equipment, including the fruit mill/crusher, apricot almond cracking machine, cold press expeller, bottle labeling machine, and other tools in the CLF, intended for the livelihood of local women.

The Hon’ble Lt. Governor emphasized prioritizing the preservation and standardization of products. He instructed the DC/CEO Kargil and the Director RD&PRD to finalize the manual for the preservation of juice in the future.

The Hon’ble Lt. Governor emphasized on the commitment to women’s empowerment, stating that opportunities for women are on the rise and will continue to expand in the future.

During the event, Sarpanch of Halqa Shilikchey on behalf of the people of Shilikchay presented a memorandum of demands which include widening/upgradation of road from Bypass Shilikchey to Hundarman-Brok Kargil, providing of ALC Category to people of Halqa Shilikchey, upgradation status of Shilikchey village to Model village (Apricot Village), compensation for land, trees for the under-construction Omachek-Thang road.

While replying to the demand of the widening/upgradation of the road, Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed DC Kargil to assess the road widening. Regarding other demands, the HLG assured them that all the demands will be prioritised. 

Meanwhile, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor visited District Hospital Kargil and took a detailed assessment of services being provided to the patients and inspected its various sections. He inspected the CT Scan, Outpatient Departments, Modular OT, Laundry etc. and enquired about the facilities available. While enquiring about the installation of new CT Scan machine in the hospital, he was informed that the new installation will be completed by 31 December, 2023. During the visit, the hospital administration requested for the extension of A and B Blocks.
