LAHDC, Leh Applauds Supreme Court Verdict on Article 370 Abrogation

Leh, 11 December: In a momentous declaration, the Chief Executive Councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Adv Tashi Gyalson, extends a warm welcome to the recent judgement by the Supreme Court of India, upholding the abrogation of Article 370.

While congratulating the people of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Adv Tashi Gyalson highlighted the significance of the verdict. He emphasized that the Supreme Court’s ruling reiterates that Article 370 was a temporary provision and affirms that Jammu and Kashmir ceded entirely to the sovereignty of India, devoid of retaining any sovereignty.

The judgement validates the applicability of all provisions of the Indian Constitution to Jammu and Kashmir. Furthermore, the judgement upholds the formation of the Union Territory of Ladakh, a decision welcomed by the Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, he further acknowledged the dynamic and visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, breaking barriers and providing a secure and developed Ladakh.

He noted the region’s transformation, with initiatives ranging from youth-led startups to women’s self-help groups, employment generation, improved education system, improved health facilities, drinking and sanitation facilities, roads and bridges, telecommunication, airport upgradation, sports infrastructure, establishment of universities,scientific explorations in Hanley, strengthening of border securities and Vibrant Village Program there by focusing on sustainable devlopment.

Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, in a tweet, commended the historic Supreme Court verdict, emphasizing its constitutional endorsement of the Parliament’s decision on August 5, 2019. The Prime Minister assured the resilient people of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh of an unwavering commitment to fulfilling their dreams and extending progress to every section of society.

The Prime Minister declared the verdict as a beacon of hope, a promise of a brighter future, and a testament to India’s collective resolve to build a stronger, more united nation.
