Kargil, Dec. 13: The 8th general election for the IKMT Kargil executive body took place today at Hussain Park, with designated polling booths for different zones of the Kargil district: Sankoo, Kargil Town, Sodh, Pashkum, Shargol, Chiktan, and Drass.

Additionally, a polling station was set up in Jammu for migrant residents of Kargil to cast their votes.

The voting commenced punctually at 9:30 am and ran until 4:00 pm, allowing people from various blocks to participate in the voting process freely and fairly.

According to Nasir Hussain Munshi, the Returning Officer, out of the 6127 registered voters, 3250 votes were cast for 6 positions: Executive Chairman, Vice Chairman, General Secretary, Joint Secretary Finance, Joint Secretary Administration, and Joint Secretary Organizing.

Nasir Munshi mentioned that the results of the 8th general election for the executive body will be announced on December 16, with the oath ceremony scheduled for December 19, 2023.
