Tourists from Karnataka Stranded in Leh: Denied Passage on SRTC Buses
VoL Desk, Oct. 11: Approximately 60 tourists from Karnataka find themselves stranded in Leh, Ladakh, as they were denied permission to travel on SRTC buses that they had previously booked for their journey to Pangong Lake via Nubra Valley, according to Sahana, one of the passengers, during a phone call.
The operators of the tempo travel service refused to allow the SRTC buses to proceed on the inner routes of Leh district, causing a delay for the tourists who had gathered at the SRTC bus starting point at 5 in the morning.
Among the stranded tourists are elderly individuals who are struggling in the cold climate, unaccustomed to such temperatures as they come from the hot region of Karnataka. Despite their discomfort, they made efforts to contact Ladakh Police and the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, but both authorities failed to grant permission for their SRTC bus to travel on the designated route.

Expressing their determination, the tourists stated that they are not interested in a refund; they insist on traveling only via the government-operated SRTC buses. They emphasized that they are not willing to support private operators and will only proceed with their journey if facilitated by government SRTC buses.
Criticism was also directed towards the government for not informing them in advance, at the time of booking their tickets, that they would not be allowed on the route. Sahana questioned who would compensate them for the three hours they lost, enduring the harsh cold weather conditions, due to this unexpected situation.

Tour operators & tourism depts must update information constantly for their customers. This kind of inconvenience will harm the reputation of Ladakh tourism.
Let is not a good place to travel because of the cartels operating there, who are ever ready to fleece visitors.
Welcome to reality. The bike & taxi unions of Ladakh are basically like a mafia. The government has continued to turn a blind eye to the ruckus created by these unions. An yellow board rental vehicle registered under any RTO is allowed to go anywhere in India, but these guys stops all non Ladakh rental vehicles going to Nubra or Pangong and no one can question them.

Huh…people of India these days demand a lot using their democratic powers.who told u to take elderly people with you if they were so sensitive to cold and if u have taken then u should have known the temperature is extremely cold there, oxygenation problem is there.u shpuld have made preparations accordingly. Using the word” small kids,children ,elderly who suffered a lot” to gain sympathy and play the Bechara game is an old tactic to hide ones own mistakes and loop holes in planning. then one travels to a new region where u know that conditions could be extreme,take precautions like that …U went to travel on your own,then y to complain. U should have done your homework properly before pkanningsuch travels..blaming government has become so easy these days and then media is always there to highlight thesebaseless things.
Griw up people of India, be sensible, be responsible be mature..Blaming Government for all your faults aint good for long run.we too have to take some responsibility and admit that we made a mistake in planning our travel properly without gaining proper knowledge of the region
Government must do something to control these taxi Maria’s. Meanwhile, people should put their Ladakh travel plan on hold.
