Mandatory Mediation Training Programme for Advocates of Ladakh concluded

Leh, Oct. 21,2023: A 40-Hour (Five Days) Mandatory Mediation Training program for Advocates of UT Ladakh, organized by the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee of the Supreme Court of India, Mediation and Conciliation Committee of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, in collaboration with the Ladakh Legal Services Authority, concluded on October 19 at Conference Hall, NISR, Leh. 

The training program was inaugurated by the Lt. Governor of Ladakh, Brig. (Dr). B. D. Mishra (Retd.), on October 15. The training was conducted by senior resource persons, District Judge Delhi, Nirja Bhatia, and Advocate from Tamil Nadu, A.J. Jawad. Both resource persons delivered 40-hour (five days) mandatory mediation training to 25 lawyers from Leh and Kargil Districts. The event was graced by the presence of all the judicial officers of Leh District. 

Mezivolou T. Therieh, Member Secretary of the MCPC, extended a vote of thanks and expressed gratitude towards the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, National Legal Services Authority, Hon’ble High Court of Jammu & Kashmir & Ladakh, Ladakh Legal Services Authority, Participants, and the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh for the successful event. She highlighted the significance of the training program, which will benefit all stakeholders.

Moreover, she expressed hope that more such programs would be conducted in the future to ensure that Advocates and other stakeholders are continually trained and kept updated with the latest mediation techniques. 

Also, students of Nari Niketan were presented with gifts on the concluding day of the training program for their recitation of the National Anthem during the inaugural session.
