LG Inaugurates 2000 LPH Milk Pasteurisation Plant at Agling; Kargil to Follow Suit in 2024-25

VoL Desk, Oct. 06: In a groundbreaking move to bolster Ladakh’s agricultural and dairy sectors, H’LG Brig (Dr) BD Mishra, the distinguished Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, dedicated a state-of-the-art 2000 Litres Per Hour (LPH) Milk Pasteurisation Plant to the people of Ladakh. The inauguration ceremony, held at Agling, marked the beginning of a transformative journey for the region’s dairy industry.

The newly inaugurated plant at Agling will serve as a hub where local farmers from various villages of Leh will supply fresh milk through Cooperative Groups. This initiative not only promises a steady source of income for the farmers but also ensures the availability of high-quality, locally produced milk for the region’s residents.

What sets this initiative apart is the strategic partnership forged between the Ladakh UT Dairy Cooperative Federation Ltd (LUTDCF) and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). Under this collaboration, the NDDB will oversee the operations of LUTDCF and its constituent units and unions for the next five years. This alliance aims to bring in expertise and innovation, propelling Ladakh’s dairy industry to new heights.

Moreover, the NDDB will actively participate in implementing a comprehensive dairy development plan in both Leh and Kargil districts. Collaborating closely with the Departments of Animal and Sheep Husbandry in Leh and Kargil, the focus will be on breeding, nutrition, and healthcare activities. This multi-faceted approach ensures not only the economic empowerment of local farmers but also the overall improvement of the region’s dairy ecosystem.

The transformative dairy project doesn’t end here. A similar state-of-the-art milk pasteurisation plant is slated to be established in Kargil in the year 2024-25, marking yet another milestone in Ladakh’s journey towards agricultural excellence.
