Two Indept. Candidates from Shakar Constituency Withdraw Names, in Favour of Zakir Hussain
Kargil, August 26: In a significant development on August 26, two independent candidates, Mr. Mohd Ali Abbassi from Shakar and Mr. Ahmad Ali from Yokma Kharbo, have withdrawn their candidacies in support of the INC candidate, Mr. Zakir Hussain, who is contesting from the Shakar Constituency.
According to an official notification from the Election Department of UT Ladakh, the electoral process was initiated with the commencement of candidate nominations on August 16, 2023. Prospective candidates were given until August 23, 2023, to formally submit their nominations. Following this, the nominations underwent a scrutiny process on August 24. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations was observed on August 26, 2023.
The much-anticipated polling day is held on September 10, 2023, with voting scheduled to take place between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM. The critical vote counting process is then scheduled for September 14, and it is anticipated that the entire electoral procedure will conclude before September 20, 2023.
