JKNC Kargil Announces Nominees for 5th LAHDC-Kargil Election

VoL Desk, August 20: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (Ladakh) Kargil District Committee has announced its official list of candidates to contest the upcoming 5th Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) election.

The list includes individuals who have been chosen based after deliberations with village and constituency elders as well as party leaders. The nominated candidates are as follows:

  1. Feroz Ahmed Khan – Silmo
  2. Mohd Haneefa Jan – Baroo – Minji
  3. Aga Syed Mujtaba – Trespone
  4. Aga Syed Abass – Taisuru
  5. Mubarak Shah Naqvi – Ranbirpura
  6. Punchok Tashi – Padum
  7. Mohd Abbas – Kargil Town
  8. Mohd Amin – Poyen
  9. Altaf Hussain – Chuliskambo
  10. Mohd Raza – Choskore
  11. Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon – Thasgam-Thuina
  12. Gh. Haider – Lankerchey
  13. Abdul Wahid – Bhimbat
  14. Advocate Ashiq Ali Firdous – Thangdumbur
  15. Ghulam Hussain – Stakchey-Khangral
  16. Mohd Sajjad Khan – Saliskote

The party’s decision to nominate these individuals comes after careful consideration and consultation with local stakeholders.

As per the Election Department, UT Ladakh notification, the election process commenced with the initiation of nominations on August 16, 2023. Prospective candidates will have until August 23, 2023, to submit their nominations. Subsequently, the scrutiny of nominations will take place on August 24, followed by the last date for the withdrawal of nominations on August 26, 2023.

The highly anticipated polling day is scheduled for September 10, 2023, with voting set to occur between 8 AM and 4 PM. The crucial counting of votes is then planned for September 14, with the entire election procedure expected to conclude before September 20, 2023.
