NC, INC Forge Pre-Poll Alliance to Safeguard Kargil from Right-Wing Forces Ahead of LAHDC Elections

VoL Desk, July 18: The two prominent political parties in district Kargil, the National Conference (NC) and Indian National Congress (INC), have come together to announce a pre-poll alliance ahead of the LAHDC Kargil general elections 2023.

The announcement was made jointly by Qamber Ali Akhone, the Ladakh State President of the National Conference, and Asger Ali Karbalaie, the State Working President of Congress. The two parties have reached an agreement based on three key agendas: firstly, a commitment to contest the elections only with the endorsement of their respective parties; secondly, a pledge to work together in a pre-poll alliance; and thirdly, an understanding to share power equally, with each party having a 50 percent stake in the council’s formation.

During the announcement, Asger Ali Karbalaie emphasized that the coalition was formed in response to prevailing national situations, including the perceived threats to democracy and secularism posed by right-wing forces. By uniting under this alliance, the parties aim to safeguard Kargil district from the influence of such forces and uphold the values of democracy and secularism.
