IKMT Kargil Condemns Sweden for Desecration of the Holy Quran, Urges International Action

VoL Desk, July 21: The Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) in Kargil, Ladakh, representing the Muslim community, issued a strong condemnation against the Swedish Government for permitting the desecration and burning of copies of the Holy Quran, while also expressing concern over the rising Islamophobia.

Speaking at the Friday gathering at Musalla Imam Kargil, Hojjatul Islam Shiekh Mohammad Hussain Lutfi, the former Chairman of IKMT Kargil, delivered a passionate sermon denouncing the repeated incidents of desecration and burning of the Holy Quran, a sacred text revered by millions of Muslims worldwide. He attributed these acts to Islamophobia, stating that they incite violence and disrespect towards all religions.

The Imam Jumma praised the immediate response of several Muslim nations, including Iraq and Iran, who promptly condemned the events and took action against Sweden. He urged other Muslim countries to follow suit and expel Swedish ambassadors as a strong expression of solidarity against the desecration.

Calling on the United Nations and international human rights organizations to take notice of the repeated desecration incidents in Stockholm, the Imam stressed the need to put an end to such inhuman acts.

Furthermore, the General Secretary of IKMT emphasized the importance of the Government of India (External Affairs) taking a stand against these acts on behalf of the twenty crore Indian Muslims and urged them to register a formal protest with the Swedish Government.
