Congress Highlights BJP’s “Lack of Progress” in Ladakh and “Unfulfilled Promises”

VoL Desk, July 02: The Indian Youth Congress, Ladakh, held its first State Executive Meeting in Kargil in presence of AICC Secretary and National In-charge IYC, Krishna Allavaru, IYC Joint Secretary and Incharge Ladakh Pradesh Youth Congress Manpreet Singh Manni, and Ladakh Pradesh Youth Congress State President Smanla Dorje Nurboo. During the meeting, the members decided to shift their focus towards the upcoming LAHDC Kargil elections, as announced in a subsequent press conference.

Key attendees at the meeting include Ladakh Pradesh Youth Congress Vice President Phuntsog Stanzin Tsepag, State General Secretary Lhundup Dorjai State General Secretary Gulzar Hussain Pradesh Youth Congress Office Incharge, Norzin Angmo Media incharge Mukhtar Hussain District Youth President Leh Tundup Nurbu Cheetah, District Youth Congress Kargil President Yousuf Ali Warsenal, District Co-ordinate Behtar Bahrat Ki Buniyad Program Aamir Hussain Lone, Zia-Ur-Rehman Mir and others. Responding to media inquiries regarding why Kargil should elect Congress in the upcoming elections, Krishna Allavaru emphasized that the Congress party avoids making false promises, unlike the BJP. He highlighted the Congress’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to any part of the country, including Kargil and Ladakh, citing an example from Karnataka where the party swiftly fulfilled five key promises after winning the election. Allavaru reiterated that the Congress believes in taking action rather than making empty promises.

Regarding the challenges faced by the youth of Ladakh, Allavaru attributed unemployment and false promises of recruitment to the wrong policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He also pointed out that the issue of the Ladakh Resident Certificate remains unresolved, indicating the current government’s lack of seriousness towards the concerns of the Ladakhi youth. Allavaru expressed confidence in the Indian National Congress’s ability to provide justice to the people in the future, as it has done in the past.

The BJP’s agenda may be ‘Congress Mukt Bharat,’ but we are not interested in that; the Congress agenda is focused on creating a ‘Berozgari Mukt Bharat, Mehengaye Mukt Bharat, and Nafrat Mukt Bharat.’ Our aim is to liberate the country from its issues, and we do not harbor animosity towards any political party. Had the BJP prioritized addressing real concerns, they might not have faced defeat in the recent Karnataka elections.

The Congress committee, in its role as an opposition party, consistently responds proactively to the people’s concerns and advocates for public issues. While considering the collective benefit of Ladakh, the party refrained from imposing its Congress identity. Tundup Nurbu Cheetah asserted that the party actively supported Ladakh’s key demands, which are spearheaded by the Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance.

According to Smanla, the BJP has failed to bring about any significant development in Ladakh since coming to power. Instead of initiating new projects, they have only been inaugurating developments that were initiated by the Congress. For instance, there were only two district-level hospitals, and no substantial progress has been made to improve them. Additionally, the promised Sindhu University remains unfulfilled as of now.

Smanla revealed that the Pradesh Congress Committee is making efforts to extend the Bharat Jodo Yatra to Ladakh, which couldn’t be accomplished during Rahul Gandhi’s previous Yatra due to road closures leading to Ladakh.
