Kargil, July 19: – The Chutuk Power Station, operated by NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation), has issued a high alert for today, July 19, 2023, as the river discharge in the downstream areas has reached an alarming level.

In response to the rapidly rising water levels, the Power Station may have to release water periodically from the Chutak Barrage throughout the day. As a precautionary step, trash cleaning is scheduled to commence at the Chutak Barrage starting from 12:00 hrs, during which additional water will be released.

To ensure the safety of the local populace, messages have already been circulated to residents in the downstream areas of Chutak Barrage. The public is advised to exercise extreme caution, stay vigilant, and avoid venturing near the riverbanks during this critical period.
