Lt. Governor Ladakh Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Emergency Operations Centre

VoL Desk, June 25: The Lt. Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra, inaugurated the state-of-the-art Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) today. The UT-EOC is equipped with advanced technology for monitoring and coordinating relief and rescue operations in the Union Territory. This crucial facility aims to enhance disaster management capabilities and ensure prompt response in times of emergencies.

Expressing his admiration, Lt. Governor Brig. (Dr) BD Mishra commended the efforts of the Disaster Management Department of Ladakh, led by Commissioner/Secretary Saugat Biswas, for their exceptional work in constructing the UT-EOC within a remarkably short period. The Lt. Governor recognized the department’s dedication and commitment to providing a cutting-edge facility that will greatly benefit the region in handling unforeseen crises.

During the inauguration, Lt. Governor Mishra expressed his appreciation for the Aapda Mitra Volunteers, recognizing their invaluable contributions to disaster management efforts in Ladakh. He emphasized the importance of close collaboration between the department, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to ensure effective maintenance of equipment, training of personnel, and regular conduct of mock drills. These measures will further strengthen the preparedness and response capabilities of the UT-EOC.

In a bid to support the ongoing efforts, the Lt. Governor distributed “Quick Deployable Antennas” and medical rescue equipment to aid the Disaster Management Department in their operations. These resources will enable efficient communication and enhance the capacity to provide timely assistance during emergencies.
