Kargil District to Receive Master Plan for Construction and Housing, Says CEC Feroz

Kargil, June 07: During a press conference on Wednesday, Chief Executive Councilor of LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan, announced that a master plan for construction and housing is likely to be implemented in Kargil district.

In response to a query from a Voice of Ladakh correspondent, Khan confirmed that the master plan is currently in progress, acknowledging the urgency due to limited space for constructions, roads, and drainage systems.

Khan further revealed that he recently led a delegation in a meeting with the LG, where they discussed the issue of roadside constructions. They requested an exemption for houses that have already been constructed and emphasized the need to rectify encroachments on roads while being open to compromises for minor encroachments.

To prevent future encroachments on roads, the implementation of a master plan is crucial, and the consultancy for this purpose has already been hired. The Chief Executive Councilor assured that the final draft of the master plan will be consented to after thorough discussions and deliberations with all stakeholders.

When asked about the timeline for the completion of the draft, Khan stated that it would be available within a month, demonstrating the commitment to timely action.
