Sheikh Hussain Lutfi criticizes Administration over repeated closure of Zojila

VoL Desk, May 12: During his Friday sermon, Sheikh Hussain Lutfi, the Imam of Jumma Musalla Mosque in Minji, expressed his anguish over various recent local and national issues, including the repeated closure of Zojila Pass.

Sheikh Hussain Lutfi, who is also a member of the Guardian Council of Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), criticized the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh for the repeated closure of the pass, despite having good machinery, which he called a matter of shame.

He noted that the administration had made various promises regarding the early opening of the pass, but as of mid-May, it has not opened properly. While acknowledging that avalanches are obstructing the road, he argued that this should not be an obstacle in the presence of good technology machines.

Sheikh Lutfi also condemned the J&K Apni Party Chief, Altaf Hussain Bukhari, over his controversial statement about the Shia community, calling on him to seek a public apology for hurting the sentiments of not only Shias but all Muslims.

The Imam Jumma further criticized the Modi-led BJP government for its silence over the ongoing Indian wrestlers’ protests led by top Indian wrestlers, including two Olympic medalists and a world champion, against the alleged sexual harassment of female wrestlers by the BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh during his tenure as the president of the Wrestling Federation of India.

Sheikh Lutfi pointed out that while the Prime Minister was among the front line to click selfies with these players when they brought laurels for the country, he has remained silent when the same players face hardship.
