Delegation Engaged in Wildlife Conservation Meets with LG Ladakh to Discuss Critical Issues Facing the Region

VoL Desk, May 13: Representatives of various NGOs and individuals engaged in wildlife conservation and protection in Ladakh met with the Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra at Raj Niwas to discuss critical issues facing the region.

During the meeting, the delegation requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor’s intervention in regulating the movement of tourist vehicles away from Kalak Tar Tar. They highlighted that this area serves as the last remaining habitat for the critically endangered Tibetan Gazelle in Ladakh. The delegation also suggested the promotion of a more convenient and shorter route to Umling la.

Moreover, the delegation expressed concerns about the increasing threat posed by feral dogs to the wildlife in Ladakh. They appealed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor for appropriate measures to address this issue.

The Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra took note of the delegation’s requests and assured them that the matter would be examined for necessary action. The meeting between the delegation and the Hon’ble Lt. Governor is expected to lead to the formulation of effective strategies for the conservation and protection of wildlife in Ladakh.
