DC Kargil chairs meeting to assess works to be taken up under District Mineral Foundation Trust

Kargil April 12, 2023: Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson District Mineral Foundation Trust, Santosh Sukhadeve today chaired a meeting to discuss the Pradhan Mantari Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojna (PMKKKY) schemes to be taken up for the year 2023-24 by utilizing the DMFT funds which is the 10 percent of revenue realized from the minor mineral extractions in the district.

Deputy Commissioner and the committee was briefed by the Member Secretary (DMFT) about the basic mandate of trust, its foundation, the mode and means of execution of plans to be administered in different areas on priority basis like Health, Education and Sanitation etc.

The Member Secretary (DMFT) apprised the committee that in the previous year (2022-23) funds to the tune of Rs 2,293,000 were utilized. Besides, the Member Secretary informed the chair and other participants that approximately an amount of Rs 55 lakh is available in the trust.

Threadbare discussion and deliberations were followed for the schemes to be taken up during the year 2023-24 out of available funds in the trust and opinion was sought from the members.

On the direction of DC Kargil following works were directed to be taken up during the current financial year.

It was decided that regarding the procurement of books, electrification of Middle School Gomorjuk, Khangral and procurement of incinerators and winding machines, an estimated sum of Rs 2 lakh, Rs 1 lakh and Rs 3 lakh was allocated under the execution of the Chief Education Officer, Kargil.

Related to procurement of incinerators and winding machines for District Hospital, CHCs & PHCs, a sum of Rs 3 lakh was allocated under the execution of Chief Medical Officer, Kargil.

Further, for procurement of dustbins/sanitation buckets, a sum of Rs 5 lakh was allocated under the disposal of Assistant Commissioner Development, Kargil.

Further, Rs 10 lakh was allocated under the jurisdiction of SDM Shakar Chiktan for procurement of trekking suits, I-cards, diaries and organizing educational activities/tours etc. for pilot basis schools in Shakar-Chiktan.

It was also decided for the engagement of physiotherapist for the welfare of the aged and specially-able and engagement of teacher/tutors at Bal Ashram under the execution of District Social Welfare Officer Kargil and a sum of Rs 6.5 lakh and Rs 3.5 lakh will be allocated respectively for these works.

Moreover, for urban sanitation, rural sanitation and for information brochures under the execution of Executive Officer, MC Kargil an estimated sum of Rs 15 lakh was allocated and under the disposal of District Mineral Officer, a sum of Rs 5 lakh was allocated for maintenance of office/departmental vehicle/POL.

DC Santosh also directed to do early action on the directions forwarded and underlined that PMKKKY is vital scheme of GoI and common people should get the maximum benefits.

Members of District Mineral Foundation Trust, Kargil and concerned officers including, District Forest Officer, Kargil, Assistant Commissioner Development, Kargil, Chief Planning Officer Kargil, Chief Medical Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Chief Education Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Executive Officer MC Kargil, District Mineral Officer, Kargil, besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.
