VoL Desk, Jan. 04: Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Ladakh has asked for public suggestions and objections against the draft of “Unified Ladakh Building Bye Laws, 2022” with in a period of 30 days of publication of the bye-laws draft. The notice was issued by the Principal Secretary on December 27, 2022.

The suggestions and objections can be send by post to the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, behind Hotel Moonland, Airport Road, Leh, UT Ladakh (194101) or through e-mail (dulbladakh@gmail.com) within a perid of 30 days from publication of the draft bye-laws.

The Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh intends to have Unified Building Bye-Laws applicable in whole of the Union Territory and shall be common for all the regulating/development agencies.

For the same purpose, the Unified Ladakh Building Bye Laws, 2022 are being formed. The erstwhile building rules/ bye-laws applicable till date including Building Regulations and ByeLaws (Kashmir Division) August 2010 will be ineffective from the date of publication of this Building Bye-Laws.

All buildings approved and constructed as per the applicable Building Rules/ bye-laws shall be deemed to have been constructed as per these Building Bye-Laws and all actions taken under the Building Rules/ bye-laws shall be deemed to have been taken under this Building ByeLaws.

As per the preface of the draft of the said bye-laws, the Building Bye-Laws have referred inputs from Architect’s Association, Municipal Committees, Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Ladakh, Central Public Works Department’s Guidelines for Sustainable Habitats, Environmental Guidelines by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
