After Drass fire incident, UT Admin to augment Police Stations, Posts for firefighting
VoL Desk, Nov. 17: After the unfortunate fire incident that took place at Qadeem Hanfiya Jamai Masjid, at Drass the Ladakh Union Territory Administration is augmenting all Police Stations and Police Posts in Ladakh for firefighting by providing all basic Fire Fighting equipment and training, announced the Ladakh Police Headquarters, at Leh in a press release on November 17.
“An unfortunate fire incident took place to Qadeem Hanfiya Jamai Masjid Drass yesterday at Drass. Local Police of Police Station Drass and local people responded immediately to control the unfortunate fire incident. Fire tenders of Fire & Emergency Services of Kargil District immediately rushed and deployed their men and machines to control the fire and to prevent further spread of fire in the adjoining areas.
“The Administration of U.T Ladakh is augmenting all Police Stations and Police Posts in U.T Ladakh for firefighting by providing all basic Fire Fighting equipments and training to act promptly to any fire incidents as first responder in conjunction with the regular Fire & Emergency Services”, read the press release tweeted by the ADGP Ladakh.
“Meanwhile all government/ non-government units located in various places are advised to install and keep basic fire fighting equipments in their offices and staff be trained to use basic fire fighting equipments to respond and react immediately to doze the fire at its initial stage and to prevent further spread of fire and to protect the life and properties. Whereas, general public is requested to take all fire preventive precautions especially while using heating appliances”, read the press release.
Pertinent to mention that the Voice of Ladakh had reported in October that the whole district Kargil has only one fire and emergency station at Kargil city.
