Principal Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar chairs review meeting with MC, Education Department in Kargil

KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 01, 2022: 

Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development and School Education, UT Ladakh Sanjeev Khirwar today chaired a review meeting with Municipal Committee and Education Department Kargil and other concerned officials at Conference Hall Baroo.

Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Director School Education Safdar Ali, Councillor Town Mohd Abass, Councillor Baroo Sheikh Ghulam Mehdi, Councillor Poyen Mohd Amin, Superintending Engineer PHE Maqbool Hussain, Superintending Engineer R&B Abdul Mutalib, CEO Mushtaq Ahmad, Principal DIET, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Mohd Saleem Wazir, Executive Engineer PHE Mohd Hassan, Vice President MC Yawar Abass, Ward Members of Municipal Committee, , Zonal Education Officers, among other concerned officers attended the meeting.

The EO MC Mohd Saleem in a detailed presentation appraised the Principal Secretary about physical and financial progress being made on various projects of Municipal Committee Kargil. 

The Principal Secretary reviewed the progress made under AMRUT, AMRUT-2.0, PMAY-U, PM SVANidhi and other centrally sponsored schemes.

Mohd Saleem also raised various issues of the MC including shortage of manpower and data operator. The Executive Officer informed that with the increase in population, more manpower is required to handle the affairs of the town. 

Responding to the issue, the Principal Secretary instructed to outsource employees against sanctioned posts. 

The Councillors requested to work on blacktopping of roads in Kargil town before the working season. The Secretary informed that a decision in this regard will be taken in a week time after which the projects will be allotted to the R&B for execution.

The Councillors also raised cleanliness issues, construction of multi-level car parking and decongestion of Kargil town.

Regarding School Education, the CEO Mushtaq Ahmad in a presentation informed that 22 Higher Secondary Schools, 48 High Schools, 261 Middle Schools, 220 Primary Schools, 01 Jawahar Navodiya Vidhyalaya, 06 Kendra Vidyalayas and 68 private schools are functional under the Education Department where the total enrolment of students is 18,474. 

The meeting emphasized and discussed vacant posts of HODs of DIET, Atal tinkering Labs, school bus services, training on PFMS to teachers and lack of headmasters in Middle Schools.

The Principal Secretary gave a patient listening to the issues and assured to resolve them in due course of time.
