KDA, LBA peacefully resolve Buddhist Gonpa issue

VoL Desk, September 03: After several rounds of deliberations between the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) and Ladakh Gonpa Association (LGA), the leaders have agreed on a resolution regarding the Buddhist Gonpa issue here at Kargil today, maintained a resolution issued afer the meeting.

After thorough discussion on the issue it was unanimously resolved that the land alloted in favour of Ladakh Buddhist Association in terms of the J&K Govt order of 1969 would be honoured by all stakeholders and that the land in question would be utilized solely for the purpose as mentioned in that Govt order as the land exists on this day on the ground, maintained the resolution.

It was further agreed by all the parties that land measuring two kanals (2 kanals) shall be alloted at Kurbathang through LAHDC Kargil in favour of Ladakh Buddhist Association exclusively for the construction of Gonpa at the earliest so that LBA could start construction as early as possible.

All the parties also agreed to work together in order to maintain and promote commual harmony in Ladakh. It was also decided by both the communities to care and respect the religious sentiments of each other to set an example of universal brotherhood globally.

To resolve the issue locally and peacefully, the three bodies convened three round of talks upto now where the leaders deliberated on various solutions to resolve the issue of construction of Buddhist Gonpa at Kargil.

The meeting was attended by Thupstan Chhewang – President Ladakh Buddhist Assocation, Qammar Ali Akhone – Co-Chairman Kargil Democratic Alliance, Asgar Ali Karbalai – Co-Chairman Kargil Democratic Alliance, Acharya Stanzín Wangtak – President Gonpa Association, Ven Tsering Chosphel – Gen Secretary LGA, Dr Tsering Puntsog – Gen. Secretary LBA, Kunzes Dolma – Gen. Secretary LBA Women Wing, Sajjad Hussain Kargili – Representative JUIAK, Shiekh Bashir Shakir – Representative IKMT, and Aga Syed Mataba – Representative LAHDC Kargil.
