Taxis ceased at Kargil; Taxi Union demands renewal of permit

VoL Desk, Sep. 15: Two to three taxis have been ceased at in Kargil as their vehicle permit have not revised by the administration, said President Taxi Union Mohd Ibrahim in a media briefing to the Voice of Ladakh.

Ibrahim said that after bifurcation of the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir, the Administration has not provided them District level, State level and national level permit to ply their vehicles.

Not having a valid vehicle permit is risk to both the driver and passengers. Unless the documents are complete we cannot claim for insurance in case of any accident, said the president Taxi Union, Mohd Ibrahim.

The taxis in a long queue proceeded towards the Assistant Regional Transport Office, Kargil at Kurbathang today demanding renewal of their permit.

On asking about their movement in these days, Ibrahim said that taxis will ply on all routes viz Srinagar, Jammu, Leh etc without any interruption and suffering to the public.
