DM Kargil restrict entry of bovine animal to prevent spread of Lumpy Skin Disease

VoL Desk, August 26: To prevent the spread of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), the office of the District Magistrate, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve has imposed restrictions on the entry of bovine animals in the District Kargil under Section 144 CrPC, announced an order today.

The outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) is being reported in various states of India, while the Administrative Secretary Animal /Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department, UT Ladakh vide his letter No ADM-Secy/ ASH&F/UTL/ 2022-23 /280-84 dated 24.08.2022 has requested to prevent the entry of Bovine animals such as Cattle, Yak, Buffalo, etc. from UT of JK and other parts of India into UT Ladakh.

Therefore, as a precautionary measure to control the spread of the Lumpy Skin Disease in the district, the District Magistrate Kargil has ordered that the entry of Bovine animal that are cattle, Yak, Buffalo, etc. from neighboring states/UTs into the Kargil District is completely prohibited with immediate effect till further orders.

The DM has also instructed the Senior Superintendent of Police and SDMS to ensure strict enforcement of the order in letter and spirit.
