MD JKPCC reviews projects works at Leh

Leh, April 18: In order to expedite the progress of works and make JKPCC unit Ladakh fully functional, the Managing Director, JKPCC, R.K. Shavan was on a two-day tour to Leh, UT of Ladakh. During inspection, he interacted with the recently posted Engineering and Ministerial staff and directed them to work hard for revival of JKPCC in UT of Ladakh.

He also visited many project sites and inspected the progress & quality of works. He also identified bottlenecks & passed instructions for redressal on-spot. The project includes multi-level car parking at Leh, guest house for High Court at Leh and Trans Himalayan Culture Centre at Leh. 

Talking about the multi-level car parking in Leh,  it was informed that the work is being executed by JKPCC Ltd. at an estimated cost of Rs. 26.95 Cr.under AMRUT scheme. He added that the frame structure is at an advanced stage of completion, MD has directed the contractor and DGM to work out modalities for starting the double shift in view of the limited working season in hand. Also, directed them to ensure strict quality of work and complete the project in all respects by this year only.

Further, he informed that the work of the guest house for the High Court at Leh is being executed by JKPCC Ltd. at an estimated cost of Rs. 9.78 Cr (revised). The framed structure is almost completed and further work held up for want of funds and revised AAA. The Managing Director informed DGM that the matter was already taken up by him with the Secretary to Govt. Department of Law & Justice, UT of Ladakh and directed DGM to follow up the matter regularly with Project Authority, so that the funds are released and work be completed at the earliest.

Similarly, the project of Trans Himalayan Culture Centre at Leh is being executed by JKPCC ltd. at an estimated cost of Rs. 30.06 Cr. and is held up for the past many years for want of funds. It was informed that the Managing Director has already taken up the matter with Project Authority to release adequate funds so that the liabilities of contractors can be cleared and balance work be resumed and completed at the earliest.

It was reiterated that extra care should be taken to ensure the quality of work.

The Managing Director was accompanied by Deputy General Manager JKPCC Unit Ladakh and concerned Engineering Staff.He also met senior officers of local administration of UT of Ladakh and requested for assigning more projects to JKPCC for its full utilization as a specialized agency.
