Inner Line Permit not required for Indian citizens across Ladakh

KARGIL, JANUARY 20, 2022 (VoL Desk): The Tourism and Culture Department, Union Territory of Ladakh has done away with the requirement of Inner Line Permit for all citizens of India to ensure hassle-free movement across Ladakh.

The Department made the announcement in a reply to one Ms. Kanchan Ugursandi, a solo rider, from Ambedkarnagar, Delhi in response to his application CPGRAM filed vide registration number: DTOUR/E/2021/01089 – reg.

Ugursandi had requested for making Umling-La pass accessible to Cyclists from across the country to move without any restriction.

“In this regard, I am directed to state that the Department of Tourism, UT Ladakh is making efforts to ensure movement of domestic tourists throughout the length and breadth of the UT”, the letter maintained that Ugursandi shared on Twitter.

“In this connection, the UT Administration has done away with the requirement of Inner Line Permit for all citizens of India across Ladakh.

“Considering the above, I am further directed to inform that efforts are being made to put in place a mechanism for smooth movement of domestic tourists across Ladakh including Umling-La in consultation with concerned Departments/Agencies.

Pertinent to mention here that, with help and encouragement by Ms Kanchan Ugursandi, a team of five people named Piyush Monga, Yogesh Rawal, Akshay Bhagat, Sumit Dangi, and Sanjay Sreekumar from Team ‘Youth Against Rape’ for the motto- #RapeMuktBharat had recently completed a journey to the World’s Highest Motorable Pass – UmLing La on one of the deadliest.

  1. If it’s true then why DM office Leh has provide online permission and take charges for that ?
    I’ve took permission online and paid required amount, although I have a receipt for the same.
    Can I apply for refund it ?
