Secretary Angmo inspects Anganwadi Centres at Changthang

Leh, Nov 12: Secretary, Social and Tribal Welfare Ladakh, Padma Angmo inspected the Anganwadi Centres under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) projects in Changthang sub-division during her two – day tour on 11th -12th November 2021.

On the first day, she visited Integrated Child Development Scheme centres in Liktsey, Tukla, Hemya, Kesar and Nyoma.

On the second day, she visited various villages, such as Anlay Pungo, Anlay Nagar, Anlay Khaldo, Rongo, Mudh and Nidder of Changthang sub-division.

During the inspection of the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) centres there were representatives from the Village Panchayat who flagged the issues of some Anganwadi Centres which were taken up for construction in 2017-18 under MGNREGA and the construction remain incomplete as funds were exhausted. Secretary directed the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Nyoma to prepare a list of all such AWCs where the work remains incomplete so that funds can be earmarked for completion of such centres for their operationalization at the earliest.

There were suggestions for construction of Polycarbonated Greenhouse for the poshan vatika in Anganwadi centres. The Secretary said that the same would be examined in consultation with the Agriculture & Horticulture department. The ICDS officials were also directed to submit proposal for construction of boundary wall and minor repair of the centres, wherever required.

She further stressed the officials for accurate and timely updation of data on Poshan Portal.

The Secretary was accompanied by OSD, Abied Hussain; CDPO Nyoma, Nilza Wangmo, and Supervisors and other officials during the tour.
