“LBA Nubra unit convince Thupstan Chewang against statehood demand”

KARGIL, NOVEMBER 18, 2021: In a meeting of Ladakh Buddhist Association, members of LBA Nubra unit convinced the President LBA Ladakh Thupstan Chewang, who is also the chairman of Leh based Apex Body against the Statehood demand for Ladakh, reported a press release issued by the LBA Nubra unit on Wednesday.

The meeting was held at Gyalway Photang, Disket Nubra, where a team of LBA Leh led by Thupstan Chbewang met with Executive Members and GCMs of LBA Nubra headed by President LBA Nubra Tsering Norboo, Buddhist Numberdars, BDC and Sarpanches of Nubra.

The meeting held deliberations regarding the ongoing issues of miscommunication between the LBA Leh and LBA Nubra, the press release maintained. Further, clear and fruitful discussion held among the two units.

“The President and the members of LBA Nubra explained in detail about the attitude of Kargili Muslim for the Buddhist people of Ladakh in the past, present and the future and had convinced to Sh. Thupstan Chhewang about unfavorable demand of Statehood status”, the press release maintained.

“At last, LBA Nubra clearly stated that:… LBA Nubra being an inseparable branch of LBA Leh always stand and committed to strengthened and uphold the Buddhist community.

“We are still stand with the earlier decision to support any form of constitutional
safeguard for UT Ladakh but not in favour of statehood status for UT Ladakh.

Pertinent to mention that the Leh based Apex Body and Kargil based Kargil Democratic Alliance after several round of deliberations have agreed on four key demands for Ladakh. The key demands include full fledged Statehood for Ladakh, constitutional Safeguard for land and jobs, proper recruitment policy and two Lok Sabha seats for Leh and Kargil.
