KDA, NC appeals to withdraw summon issued to student leaders

KARGIL, NOVEMBER 17, 2021: After the show-cause notices issued to the six student leaders regarding the October 28 protest of Girls Higher Secondary School Kargil, The Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and National Conference (NC) in separate press releases has appealed the Administration to withdraw the summon against the student leaders.

The summons issued to the Kargili students by the Ladakh Union Territory Administration is actually aimed to weaken the Kargil Democratic Alliance. The KDA appeals to the UT Administration to withdraw the summon served to the students. The KDA further appealed to not create any hurdle in the peace and order in the district.

“We know that the Administration is not happy with the public unity in Kargil and Leh, and because of this frustration, the administration is harassing the social activists and students. And with political means they are trying to weaken the people’s alliance”, the press release maintained.

“We further suggest the UT Administration that such acts would vanish public trust in the administration. Thus, it would be better to resolve public issues instead of confronting the public.

The KDA expressed solidarity with the students and condemned the summon issued to the students.

Similarly, the NC in its press release condemned the summon issued to students and social activists. The press release alleged that the Administration is harassing the public on the directions of BJP who is not happy with the recent people alliance between the two districts of Ladakh.

Pertinent to mention that a massive protest had embarked on October 28 from Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Kargil to DC Office Baroo against the alleged illegal encroachment of land of Girls Higher Secondary School, which is being used for archery by some individuals while the matter related to land is ongoing for several years now. The six students who have been issued show-cause notice include Ali Murtaza president of SEMOK, Ahmad Qadri SEMOK Vice President, Farzana Batool SEMOK Member, Shazia Nazir president of All Ladakh Student Welfare Association Jammu, Hasan Hundarmani Spokesman of SEMOK, and Jammu Boys Hostel president Mohammad Hasnain.
