3 dead, 1 critical after soil bund caves in Tral

Pulwama, CNS, 23- Oct; Three members of a nomad family died and another remains critically injured after their makeshift tent came under debris of a soil bund which caved-in amid incessant rains in Noorpora area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.

Sources told CNS that four members of the nomad (Gujjar Community) family came under the debris, toppling the makeshift tent belonging to one Irshad Ahmad son of Abdul Gafoor near Mini Secretariat Noorpora Tral.

Soon locals, later joined by police, launched a massive rescue operation. “All four persons were rescued in critical condition from the debris and taken to hospital”, they said.

However three among them succumbed to the injuries at the hospital while condition of another remains to be critical, a police officer told CNS. He said that the injured has been shifted to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.

The deceased have been identified Irshad Bargud son of Abdul Gani, Mahnaz Akhter daughter of Abdul Qayoom and Wahab Jan wife of Abdul Gafoor, all residents of Reasi.

Meanwhile, around 10 other members of nomadic family have been shifted by the concerned Tehsildar to Govt Middle School Noorpora.(CNS)
