DC Santosh convenes meeting with religious heads, Health Dept

KARGIL, APRIL 29, 2021: District Magistrate/Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve today convened a meeting with the heads of religious organizations and officers of Health Department to discuss the preparedness and arrangements for the upcoming religious events during the holy month of Ramadan.

SSP Kargil Anayat Ali Choudhary, ADC Kargil Tsering Motup, ACR Kargil Shabir Hussain, District Immunization Officer Dr Muhammad Abass, Incharge Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital Kargil Dr Jalil Ahmad, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kargil Dr Fatima Nissa, representatives of Anjuman e Jamiat Ulema Isna Ashariya Kargil (AJUIAK), Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), Kargil, Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat Kargil, Anjuman e Noorbakshiya Kargil and Anjuman Sahib Zaman Kargil  besides other officers attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner while underlining the important role of the religious organizations as influencers in the battle against COVID-19 urged upon them to proactively sensitize the masses to religiously follow the COVID-19 SOPs which is mandatory to contain the transmission of Coronavirus infection. He said that the war against the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be won without active cooperation of the people and everyone needs to take extra care and adhere to the set SOPs in letter and spirit.

The Deputy Commissioner urged the religious heads to use their influence to ensure that every person follows the Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) including use of face mask, maintain hand hygiene, social distancing and other related measures. He also extended gratitude to the religious organizations for having already extended a lot of support to the Administration and urged that more cooperation is needed to contain the spread of COVID-19 for safety of the district and its people and set an example for the world to see.

DC Santosh Sukhadeve said that the Coronavirus is not over, and since there has been a sudden surge in the number of cases across the country, the risk of death due to the pandemic is also increasing which calls for an immediate need for necessary precautions to save precious human lives.

Meanwhile, the heads of religious organizations assured to extend all out support to the Administration in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and seamless implementation of the SOPs of the Administration from time to time in the larger interest and safety of the society.

It was decided in the meeting that all upcoming religious events will be restricted to the participation of minimum number of devotees and all mandatory COVID-19 protocols shall be strictly followed to contain the spread of the pandemic.
