Students in Drass, Barsoo Celebrates International Women’s Day

Drass, March 08, 2021: With the women around the globe, students and staffs of Govt Degree College Drass and Govt Higher Secondary School Barsoo celebrated International Women Day today.

The programme was attended by the Principal, Faculty members and the students of 4th and 5th semester.

The programme begins with introductory speech by Mr. Liyakat Ali. He stressed upon the practices of Prophet Mohammad (SAW) with respect to women in general and female family members in particular. He mentioned that how the worthy Prophet used to respect his daughter Hazrat Fatemeh (s.a).

Dr. Amjad Ali, principal Govt Degree College Drass in his welcome note stressed upon the students especially girl students to seek knowledge and excel in their studies. He also asked the students to be bold and courageous to face any challenges in future by working very hard and focused.

He expressed his satisfaction with the students of Drass being bold and told them to channelize their potential to become successful in their career.

Many faculties and students spoke on the occasion. Among those, Ms Jigmet Chondol (Economics) spoke on the occasion.

She also deliberated upon role of women in the society. Whether it is a boy or girl, everyone should be treated equal in our society. The role of women not only limited to household chores but also to revolutionize the world.

However, to achieve this, mindset needs to change so that women may get equal freedom and opportunities in everything like men.

Dr. Rinchen Dolma while speaking on the occasion deliberated upon the theme of 2021 International Women’s Day i.e “choose to Challenge”. She expressed that women faces a lot of problems in the society, like gender discrimination and harassment.

However in order to overcome such
challenges, one should not run away from them, rather one should take these problems as challenges and face them bravely and courageously. This is only possible when we work hard in the field of education and excel.

Among the students, Ms Arifa and Ms. Rubina of 5th Semester delivered talk on women empowerment and discussed the role of women in the modern world and how they can cope up with the challenges through education.

On the other side, Govt Higher Secondary School Barsoo Sankoo also Celebrated International Women Day. On this occasion the students of 9th, 12th and teachers participated.

The school premises, classrooms were displayed with play cards, posters and written quotes of women empowerment and women acheivers like educationists, economists, social reformers and women polititions with the aim to inspire and motivate the women folk.

Mr Mohmad Ali physical Master briefed about the Programme background and highlighted the important issues to promote women empowerment among the Society.

Many girl students also spoke on the occasion with regarding to women empowerment and their rights. Besides it, the girl speakers highlighted the great women achievers and their tremendous contributions towards the national and international level.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Nazir lecturer Urdu elaborately emphasised the importance of women education to make them enable for achieve the desirable destination , rights and honour among the society. So that a woman could be able to face the challenges in the male dominated society.

Concluding the programme Mr Ali Haider Principal expressed his valuable views in the context of women empowerment .

He said,that the need of the hour is to encourage and boost the women empowerment, if we ignore and restrict a woman’s growth and development it’s as equal to restrict and destroy a family’s growth, because a woman is the country’s fate.
