DLSA Kargil observes World Day of Social Justice

KARGIL, FEBRUARY 20, 2021: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kargil observed the World Day of Social Justice with the theme “A Call for Social Justice in the Digital Economy” and “Awareness and Access to Social Welfare Schemes” at Tourist Facilitation Centre Kargil here today.

Principal District and Session Judge and Chairman DLSA Kargil Justice Mohammad Rafiq Chak, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Kargil Tsewang Phuntsog, Munsif Sankoo and Secretary DLSA Kargil Wangial Tsering, District Social Welfare Officer Aga Syed Jamal, Child Development Project Officer Aga Syed Murtaza, Child Development Project Officer Taisuru Parveen Akhtar, President Panchayat Association Kargil Issa Ali, Block Development Council (BDC) Chairpersons, Sarpanchs, Panchs, Supervisors of ICDS, Advocate Mustafa Haji, Anganwadi Workers besides students of Bal Ashram Kargil were present on the occasion.

The Principal District and Session Judge Kargil while speaking on the occasion said the advancement in technology has played a vital role in delivering social justice, especially in the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. The idea of this event is to empower the down trodden sections of the society and the down trodden workers are the architect of the nation, he stated.

The CJM Kargil Tsewang Phuntsog said, “We are here to celebrate the World Day of Social Justice. The social justice is the goal of our Constitution and the responsibility to achieve it lies both on the state and citizens. District Legal Service Authority is also assigned to achieve these goals of the Constitution”.

“Sustainable development, which means the judicial use of resources, is also a part of the social justice, in this age we have to become digital citizens and the literate citizens have the responsibility to assist the illiterate citizens”, the CJM said.

District Social Welfare Officer Aga Syed Jamal enlightened the audience about various schemes being implemented through the Social Welfare Department like the Old Age Pension Scheme, National Social Assistance to students for education in India and abroad, marriage assistance to girls from down trodden sections of the society and other related schemes.

CDPO Kargil Aga Syed Murtaza in his speech expressed thankfulness to the DLSA Kargil for conducting such awareness event in the district and termed it the need of the hour. He informed the audience about the Integrated Child Development Service.

Advocate Mustafa Haji while deliberating on both social justice and digital age said that current era is the era of digital revolution and the rapid spread of information has curbed the potential loss in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. He further informed that Government has provided various schemes and the digital platforms and online records have minimized the rate of proliferation, manipulation and corruption in the schemes.

The mobile and digital revolution have minimized and curbed the inequality against women and also removed the gender inequality besides urban and rural inequality.
President Panchayat Association Kargil Issa Ali thanked the authorities for including the Panchayat authorities in this event which was participated by the women and students as well.

Meanwhile, light refreshment was served to the guests and participants during the programme.
