LG Notifies Recommendations for Conferment of State Awards

Leh/ Jan. 08: The Lieutenant Governor of UT Ladakh has notified recommendations for the conferment of state awards in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The award would be considered in all or any of the categories to recognise excellence in the following fields:

  1. Bravery
  2. Literature, Art and Craft
  3. Social Reforms, Empowerment & Environmental Protection
  4. Public Services
  5. Sports
  6. Entrepreneurship and Progressive Farming
  7. Teaching and Academics 

The award for bravery to children includes Rs 51,000, a citation and monthly stipend for education. The award for other categories includes Rs 51,000 and a citation. The cash amount for bravery, wherein the person- a child or adult- dies during an act of outstanding bravery, would get a prize of Rs one lakh.  

The nomination for the grant of state award should be addressed and submitted to the Under Secretary, General Administration Department (GAD), Administration of UT Ladakh, by governmental (such as LAHDCs, Administrative Secretaries and Deputy Commissioners) and non-governmental categories (such as person or organisation).

The nomination/recommendation should contain relevant information in the prescribed proforma, including a citation in narrative form highlighting achievements/service of the person/organisation recommended in their respective fields/categories. 

The nominations would be placed before a screening committee and then forwarded to the UT-level selection committee. The final selection of the entries would be made by the Hon’ble LG on the basis of recommendations of the UT-level selection committee.

The state awards would be announced on Republic Day and the winners shall be felicitated in a separate investiture ceremony. The proforma for the state awards could be downloaded from ladakh.nic.in.

The deadline for the submission of nominations at the office of GAD, Administration of UT Ladakh, is 15th of January 2021.
