Kargil/ Dec. 21: Executive Councillor for Rural Development Er Phunsoq Tashi took stock of the physical and financial progress achieved on the developmental works under Rural Development (RD) Sector during a meeting of the concerned officers at Council Secretariat here today.

During the course of the meeting, the EC reviewed the progress achieved so far on various developmental schemes and works in RD under the Special Development Package (SDP), State Sector, MGNREGA, Capex Budget and other schemes.

Assistant Commissioner Development /Project Officer Wages Kargil Ghulam Muhammad, Assistant Commissioner Revenue/District Panchayat Officer Kargil Shabir Hussain, Executive Engineer, Rural Engineering Wing Kargil Gulzar Hussain Munshi, Block Development Officers (BDOs), Junior Engineers (JEs) besides other concerned officers and officials attended the meeting.

The Assistant Commissioner Development /Project Officer Wages Kargil informed the meeting about the physical and financial progress made by the department in respect of various works and schemes so far and assured that expenditure in case of works would be made in due course of time.

The meeting was informed that a total of 469 works were approved under SDP at a cost of Rs 139 crores while 136 works at cost of Rs 38 crores and 60 works worth Rs 20.39 crores have been approved under the State Sector and Capex Budget respectively.

The house was further informed that out of the 15 lac hours of man-days targeted under MGNREGA, 10 lac man-days have already been completed. 

As regards to the physical progress registered in respect of various works, the Executive Engineer REW informed the EC that 80% of the works have already been tendered out of which most of the works are under execution.

Threadbare discussions were also held regarding the operational problems faced by the department in the implementation of various works.  

The ACD Kargil requested the EC Rural Development for the intervention of the LAHDC Kargil in the resolution of issues of land compensation and other disputes.

The EC Rural Development expressed his appreciation for the engineers and all officers and officials involved in the preparation of DPRS, other documentation works and on-ground execution of various projects and exhorted upon them to make continued efforts for smooth implementation of schemes and works so that the benefits reach to the masses in the most satisfying manner.

Meanwhile, EC Tashi directed the Executive Engineer REW to ensure the installation of signage and boards during the execution of works under different schemes.
