RBI withdraws Rs 2000 currency notes after introducing them in 2018

Srinagar, May 19, KNT: Reserve Bank of India today said that has withdrawn Rs 2,000 denomination bank notes, however, the notes will continue as legal tender.

The Rs 2000 denomination banknote was introduced in November 2016 under Section 24(1) of RBI Act, 1934, primarily to meet the currency requirement of the economy in an expeditious manner after the withdrawal of the legal tender status of all Rs 500 and Rs 1000 banknotes in circulation at that time.

16 Army men killed, 4 injured in accident near Indo-China border in Sikkim Visuals Surface

DEC 23, 2022: Sixteen Army jawans were killed and four others injured when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge at a remote location in North Sikkim near the India-China border on Friday.

According to a senior police officer, the injured have been airlifted to an Army hospital in North Bengal.
