Union Minister Anurag Thakur Addresses Press Conference as Y20 Pre-Summit Concludes Successfully in Leh

Leh, India – The three-day-long Y20 Pre-Summit concluded today, with Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Services and Sports, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, addressing a press conference at Zen Hotel in Leh.

Thakur expressed optimism regarding the successful conclusion of the event, despite some opposition to hosting such gatherings in Ladakh. He emphasized India’s pride in celebrating its 75 years of Independence and securing the Presidency for the G20 Summit in India.

India set an example for other countries with its rich art, culture, and heritage during the G20 Summit, where delegates, consisting of 53 females and 50 males, had the opportunity to appreciate India’s diverse traditions. The discussions and deliberations on the priority themes were successful, that might have causing concerns for certain groups. Thakur highlighted India’s unparalleled example of shared future, youth, democracy, and governance.

Referring to Buddhism and its message of peace, Thakur emphasized that India has embraced the teachings of Buddha rather than engaging in war. He encouraged seeking solutions to common concerns and priorities through the involvement of youth, research, and innovation.

Thakur also acknowledged various initiatives undertaken by the Modi government, including the International Solar Alliance, renewable energy initiatives, carbon emission reduction, green investment, and green job creation. Quoting Modi, he reiterated that diplomacy and dialogue have become paramount in the world, surpassing the era of war.

Thakur further highlighted the positive development of former militants participating in the consultation meetings during the G20 Summit.

Anmol Sumit, the Chair of Y20, praised India’s networking efforts with other countries, emphasizing the value of networking as one’s net worth.

Pankaj Kumar Singh, Director of Youth Affairs, acknowledged the successful execution of the event despite various obstacles, considering it a greater accomplishment that all delegates reached a consensus on the priority themes.
