CEC Feroz Khan chairs review meeting of Education Department  

Kargil, Jan 18, 2023: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan today chaired a review meeting of the Education Department regarding resolving various issues related to the department at Council Secretariat.

Executive Councillor, RDD, Tourism and Zanskar Affairs, Er. Phunchok Tashi, EC Social Welfare, Syed Mehdi Fazily, EC Health, Mohsin Ali, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kargil, Mushtaq Ahmed, Zonal Education Officers of various blocks besides concerned officers were present during the meeting.

In his address, the CEC said the purpose of the meeting is to understand and find ways and measures for the resolution of various issues such as staff vacancy, infrastructure, rationalization and other issues before the schools resume classes. He further asked the concerned officers to submit infrastructure-related issues so that these can be reflected in CAPEX budget.

During the meeting, the concerned officers gave detailed information about various issues pertaining to the department and threadbare discussions and deliberations were followed on the issues.

During the meeting, CEO Kargil said that all ZEOs have been directed to submit the process of rationalization within 15 days. Further, the CEO also briefed about the status of schools that lack drinking water supply, ramps, electricity and boundary wall.

Meanwhile, the concerned ZEOs of Kargil, Chiktan, Shargole, Drass, Sankoo and Taisuru gave detailed presentations related to the agenda of the meeting.

The CEC was informed that in Chiktan Zone, 20 schools lack drinking water facility and 11 schools lack separate toilet facilities and three schools have been merged with ICDS.

With regards to Drass Zone the CEC was informed about vacancy of a teacher at a primary school, to which the CEC directed for necessary action. All school Drass have toilet facilities, however 18 schools lack drinking, 26 schools lack electricity and seven have been merged with ICDS.

The CEC further took detailed review about rationalization, merger with ICDS, drinking and electricity facility and other issues of Shargole, Kargil, Sankoo and Taisuru.

Regarding the vacancy of posts at Model Middle Hagnis, the CEC directed to clear al pendency before the inauguration of the school.

CEC Khan directed that Zone wise rationalization of teachers must be completed within 15 days and after that a review meeting will be held on the matter. He further asked to resolve the shortage of teachers at CEO level at the earliest.

Regarding the rationalization of RET teachers Khan further said a recommendation can be sent to the UT Administration. Related to the requirement of new buildings, he directed the ZEOs to submit the list to CEO Kargil, subject to the feasibility of land.

Khan further directed the concerned officers to work with dedication and also raised the issue of vacancy of teachers at Higher Secondary School, Choskore.

The CEC expressed satisfaction over the functioning of Government Schools and reflected that the aspirations of public has increased on Government Schools and there has been an increase in enrolment at High and Higher Secondary Schools. Moreover, he said community participation in collaboration with Government Schools has marginally increased adding that majority of NEET Examination qualifiers are from Government Schools.
