Constitution Day observed across Kargil district

Kargil, Nov 26, 2022:

Celebrating the Constitution Day/Samvidhan Diwas being observed every year on November 26th, preamble reading ceremonies were held across Kargil district.

Constitution Day commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of India. On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India had adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on January 26, 1950.

At District Headquarter Kargil, Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve presided over the function and read out the Preamble of the Constitution.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-ud-In Wani, CPO Abdul Hadi, officers and officials of DC Office were present at the pledge-taking ceremony.

DC Kargil urged upon all officers/officials to maintain a sense of brotherhood, achieve the idea of social, economic and political justice, liberty of thought and expression, equality among all and element of fraternity as enshrined in the preamble of our Constitution.

On the occasion, DC Santosh said that this day motivates all to connect with the spirit of the Constitution and understand the rights and duties as a citizen.

The participants reiterated the resolve of the nation to constitute India into a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular and Democratic Republic nation.

Constitution Day was also observed across all the government offices in the district.

District Legal Services Authority Kargil observed Constitution Da in District Court Complex Kargil. The program was attended by bar members, staff members, PLVs, litigants and the general public.

The program was chaired by Phuntsog Angmo Secretary DLSA, Kargil who also gave a welcome speech and later threw light on the purpose of observance of the day. He also explained various provisions of the constitution. The preamble of the constitution was read during the program.

On the occasion Advocate Haji Ghulam Murtaza, Advocate Haji Mohammad Amir, and Advocate Khadim Hussain also spoke extensively on various provisions of the constitution and the importance of the day. Similar programs were organized at TLSC Drass, Sankoo, and Zanskar respectively.

Meanwhile, Constitution Day was also observed in district offices, block offices, sub-division offices, schools, and in all the government departments in which all the officers and officials showed their enthusiastic participation.

Cultural Committee, GDC Drass, celebrated Constitution Day in the college. Assistant Professor Jegmet Sangyas who is also Convener Cultural Committee, reminded students and staff of the vision and values enshrined in the constitution by the founding fathers and mentioned the upholding of those constitutional values as the duty of every citizen.

Assistant Professor Department of History, Dr Ashraf Wani highlighted the historical background of the Constitution of India.

Noor Jahan, a 2nd Semester student, presented a speech on the significance of the day while  Hajira Banoo, also a 2nd Semester student delivered a speech on framing of the constitution.

In the end, Assistant Professor, Haider Ali Askari, highlighted the Unity in Diversity of India envisioned by the founding fathers of the Constitution. After concluding the program, students and staff recited the Preamble of the Constitution in the college campus.

Similarly, Constitution Day was celebrated at GDC Kargil with patriotic fervour. An event was organized in the college by the department of Political Science in collaboration with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan unit GDC Kargil.

The event commenced with Preamble reading session by faculty and students of the institution. Dr Javed Iqbal, Incharge Principal and Mehdi Ali, Assistant Professor, Political Science spoke about the importance of the Constitution.

Various student speakers deliberated their views on the occasion. The program proceedings were conducted by Gulzar Hussain, Assistant Professor, Department of History.
