Premature retirement of 36 cops in JK; Public demands action against misappropriation of govt funds and corrupt officials

Srinagar, CNS,14-Oct: Expressing satisfaction over the premature retirement of 36 police officers, people have demanded LG Administration that the big crocodiles who have looted the various government departments should be removed and action should be taken as soon as possible against the staff under them to ensure transparency in government institutions and implement measures to root out bribery.

As per reports to CNS, the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) administration under its zero-tolerance policy against corruption on Thursday ordered the ordered premature retirement of 36 police personnel citing a lack of performance and involvement in corruption and anti-social activities.

Under Article 226 (2) of the Jammu and Kashmir CSR, many employees have been dismissed due to anti-national activities.

Meanwhile, declaring it as a bold step of the administration, public demanded that the cases of bribery and embezzlement against the A-grade officers and their subordinates have been registered in the anti-bribery court and the investigation has been completed and they should be dismissed immediately.

According to people of different schools of thoughts, the bribery cases against dozens of officers and subordinate staff of the Department of Forests, Finance, PHE, PDD, R&B, Irrigation, Flood Control, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and manipulation of government funds have been registered, although the investigation process is in the final stage, action must be taken to remove such big crocodiles from their duties as soon as possible so that bribery in government institutions is rooted-out to ensure the process of uprooting, ensuring transparency.

“’Such officers who have obtained financial benefits through misappropriation of government funds, bribery and corruption should also be dismissed from their duties”, one of the scholar added. (CNS)
