5th Ladakh College Students Conference concludes at Leh

CEC, MP Ladakh, EC Culture attend closing function at CIBS

Leh June 29: The Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson presided over the concluding function of the 5th Ladakh College Students Conference as the chief guest today. MP Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, and Executive Councillor for Art and Culture, LAHDC Leh, Stanzin Chosphel were the guest of honor. Administrative Officer, CIBS, Dean of the University, and various other guests attended the event.

While addressing the gathering, CEC Tashi Gyalson appreciated the organisers for their efforts in conducting the 3-day conference cum seminar on the theme ‘Importance of restoration and preservation of culture and language of Ladakh’. He further highlighted various initiatives being carried out by the Hill Council, Leh for the promotion and preservation of the traditional art, culture, and language of Ladakh. He expressed his gratitude to MP Ladakh for moving a private member bill in the parliament for the inclusion of Bhoti language in the 8th schedule of the Indian constitution.

CEC Gyalson further sought a detailed compiled report with feedback of the participants from the seminar and assured that the Hill Council would examine and study the report to ensure assistance towards more such programs in the future.

MP Ladakh, JTN expressed his gratitude to the Hill Council Leh led by CEC Gyalson for the historic announcement of observing 1st April as the ‘Bhoti Language Day’ in Leh Ladakh. He added that talks are in progress with the Union Government to observe Bhoti Language day at the national level as well. MP JTN stressed the need for sharing of knowledge and further requested all the students to share every bit of learnings from the conference with their friends and family members.  

EC Chosphel also addressed the gathering and spoke at length about the importance of preserving heritage sites, traditional practices, and the cultural identity of Ladakhis. He highlighted the steps being taken by the Art and Culture Department of LAHDC Leh towards the promotion and preservation of Culture and Language and also assured to initiate more of such initiatives in the future as well.

Students from various educational institutions took part in the conference and also share their experiences and learning from the conference during the closing function. Certificates were also distributed to the participants at the hands of the dignitaries in the end.
