LBA delegation, CEC Leh discuss promotion of “Bhoti language”

Leh, Feb 19: A delegation led by Vice Presidents of Ladakh Buddhist Association Leh, Chhering Dorjay Lakrook, and Dr. Tsewang Yangjor called on the Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson today.

The delegation comprised of Retired Prof. Jamyang Gyalson, Editor, Cultural Academy Leh, Dr. Thupstan Norboo, Ven. Tsering Chosphel and other concerned members of LBA.

The delegation raised concern over the creation of more Bhoti language teacher posts along with filling up vacancies in various schools. They also highlighted the need for initiating adult education programs in the district.

They further discussed the promotion of the Bhoti language and providing good platforms to local authors. Further deliberations were made on enhancing drives for monastery guide training. Besides, other social issues were also discussed during the meeting.

Taking note of their concerns, CEC Gyalson informed the delegation about various measures and initiatives taken by the Hill Council Leh to date. He added that a Cultural Center in Leh will be established soon which would provide good platforms to promote local culture and traditions.

He also spoke on the expansion of Tashi Rabgyais Library Leh and the successful completion of a vocational training program for youths organised by Hill Council Leh. He assured the delegation that the Hill Council Leh is working efficiently in addressing the raised concerns.
